Grateful Gnomads

from dreaming to achieving

What's up, gnomies?!

What's the one place on your travel bucket list that you've been dreaming of exploring for years?

For me, the number one thing on my bucket list was hanging out with wild penguins in the southernmost point in the world (not including Antarctica).

Back in 2012, while living in China, I caught a serious case of the travel bug. It was one of those moments when you realize there's a whole world out there waiting to be explored, and I was determined to explore it.

My dream to journey to the southernmost point in the world and hang out with penguins began during a trip to visit some ancient Buddhist caves in central China.

As I was sitting in our hostel, staring at a world map, I realized the southernmost city in the world was nestled in Argentina.

I pointed at that distant place on the map and promised myself that I would make this dream a reality someday.

And guess what?

That dream finally came true last year.

Thanks to our travel hacking efforts and Sasha's incredible planning skills, we managed to secure flights from Asheville to Buenos Aires at an unbelievable cost of just 45,000 airline miles.

And now I'm super excited to share that epic journey in our latest blog post:

To the End of the World and Back: Traveling from Argentina to the USA

In this post, we recount our favorite moments of our amazing adventure to Argentina and back - including our wild penguin experience.

We also spill the beans on our experiences in Uruguay, Chile, Panama, and Mexico - the good and bad. It's a journey that took us from the southernmost point in the world back to the comforts of home in the USA.

So if you're curious about our escapades, the must-visit spots, and the thrilling encounters we had along the way, be sure to check out our blog post!

Here are a few other things that will help you make your travel dreams a reality....

After 2.5 months in Colombia, a week in Texas for the Texas Eclipse festival, and a few days on the road seeing the Disco Biscuits, we're back in North Carolina. It's all been a bit of a whirlwind the last few weeks as I was busy building my English teaching business while simultaneously having lots of students to teach. Sasha has been busy with his job at CashorTrade and writing a feature article Live and Invest Overseas. We managed to sneak away to a...

Hey, Gnomies! Greetings from warm and sunny Medellin! We both hate to be cold so being able to head south for the winter is one of my favorite things about being a digital nomad. Why Colombia? You might be wondering. Well, for a couple of reasons. First of all, we love Colombia, especially Medellin. It's my fourth time here, Sasha's third. We came together for the first time in 2017, then I came back solo for a digital nomad conference in 2018. Then we came together again at the beginning of...
